After getting to know Almuñécar, it’s time to explore the beautiful coastline nearby.

Start your morning with a drive to Nerja, one of the most picturesque towns along the Mediterranean coast.

If you happen to visit Nerja on a Tuesday morning, you can explore the lively weekly market there, which takes place from 9:00 to 14:00.

Walk through the charming streets of the old town with shops and lots of tapas restaurants, and you’ll reach the famous Balcón de Europa, with a beautiful coast scenery.

Follow the ceramic footprints through the narrow streets, which guide visitors along historic routes and viewpoints throughout the village.

Comares is the perfect place for a relaxed lunch on a terrace while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the Andalusian countryside.

An alternative option for this day is a visit to Cómpeta, another beautiful white village in the region. Cómpeta has a lovely central square in front of the church where locals and visitors gather on the terraces. As you wander through the village, you’ll discover witches, dragons and other mysterious figures that reflect the local folklore.

A small personal tip: Because Soportújar is a very small village, restaurants can be limited, especially outside the main tourist season. A nice way to plan your day is to combine your visit with nearby Pampaneira, one of the most charming villages in the Alpujarra.

Pampaneira is known for its white houses, flower-filled streets and small artisan shops, and it offers plenty of cozy restaurants and terraces for lunch. After exploring the magical streets of Soportújar, Pampaneira is the perfect place to relax and enjoy traditional Alpujarra cuisine.
